Questions?

I took this photograph on my recent photo-walk to Haji Ali Dargah. At that time time it was mostly out of curiosity and documenting but when I saw it on my laptop It gave birth to a lot of questions. Why people beg? Is it because they don’t have any other option? Or is it because they don’t want to work? Is it emotional blackmailing? Is it a business? I don’t know the answers of any of the above questions. There are not certain answers for anything but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t think. A photograph must interact with its audience and this photograph did it for me.

What do you think about it? What do you feel on seeing this photograph?

  1. I know allot of people only one check away from this.

Every coin has two faces, so does this picture. The first look at the picture brought in me a sense of hatred for those parents who use their children as a source of income but a second thought made me think of the conditions in which those parents must have been which forced them to put their child in such misery. This debate on begging has been going on for long and will continue for years to come but people seem to have forgotten about the future of those children for whom this debate was initiated.
