Screaming the inside out!

Being an artist is not a normal thing. You indirectly feed on the appreciation and the support from people. When you constantly put pieces of your heart in a photograph and it just goes unnoticed like a scream which just dies out in the silence, it starts to ache. It becomes worse if you are artist more for the art than for people. When you don’t care what people want and don’t see from a business point of view. The glass of patience gets fill after some time and then you scream. Scream your heart out! But you can’t give up, it is not an option. You just hope for a better tomorrow.

A New Idea

A New Idea by Abhey Singh
A New Idea, a photo by Abhey Singh on Flickr.

Routine makes you rigid like a dry tree. It kills the naughty child within who questions all random happenings. You keep doing same thing again and again everyday and forget why you were doing it in the first place. It reduces a human being to a machine. By my experiences so far I have realized that new innovative ideas only comes to you when you maintain a balance between everyday’s work and free time. Too much of free time too can render you to a limited mental space. Most of the jobs in today’s world don’t need you to think. You just need to work like a machine.

I felt the same feeling at my workplace. I was struggling to balance the routine job and photography. Former requires doing exactly as you are told and latter to think without any limitation. That is when I got this idea of showing myself turned to a rigid and still tree with budding twig showing ‘ a new idea’.

I have decided to be more thorough with my photographs from now on. It also gives me time to learn new techniques to improve upon my knowledge. Also I am working to earn my livelihood, it takes 4-5 days to complete 1 photograph. The 365 project will be more of a 52 weeks project from now on. I have already lined up 3-4 ideas. Quite excited about few of them.
Suggestions and feedback welcomed.

A lot and lot of photoshop. Trying to learn new types of editing. It is a direct reproduction of the tutorial I read in a magazine. It took a lot of time and patience was the key 🙂

See on flickr for a much better quality and black background

Spent a lot of time on editing. I read some tutorial on ‘How to give a painterly effect?’ in a book by Scott Kelby yesterday. I din’t have any suitable photograph to try at that time. I went for a photo-walk in the small break I got between rains. I saw this old lady from a long distance and I decided to take a photograph. It came instinctively to me that only the side pose will reflect her true state. In side pose you can see the bend in her body which makes a lot of impact. I waited for her till she came opposite to me and took this photograph. After going through Lightroom and Photoshop the final result came out to be complete different from the original.

Recreating Paintings

As the Convener of the photography club of my institute I was part of the organizing team of the Photography and Fine Arts exhibition. That is when I thought of this interesting idea of immitating paintings. Some of the photographs turned out to be good while others are funny.
