“Love like rain, can nourish from above, drenching couples with a soaking joy”

The rainy season is my favorite of all and specially the rains of Mumbai. Rains symbolizes the extremes of emotions, it can make you feel all romantic but it can also carry your tears with it. see on Flickr for a better view
I went to shoot for the Documentary project I am starting but met a Photojournalist there accidently and spent my entire evening talking with him. Later, I went in search of lights as it was already night, so I went to the gymkhana grounds. I took a lot of photographs there, of children playing, lights etc. but when I saw this frame I knew this is going to be the 99th :).Tomorrow will be the 100th and I have a very special photograph in my mind for it. I am curious to know which kind of my photographs you like the most: the conceptual ones or natural candid shots like this. Do comment 🙂
Today, I decided to take a break from conceptual self-portraits and do some street photography. I just loved it. I again realized that I want to be a documentary photographer. Couldn’t edit to my heart’s desire as my room’s tubelight is not working and it really put a lot of strain on eyes to edit in dark. Flickr link
Yesterday I went for a photo-walk on the promenade built on the powai lake. Powai Lake (named after Framaji Kavasji Powai Estate) is an artificial lake, situated in the northern suburb of Mumbai, on Salsette Island, in the Powai valley, where a Powai village with a cluster of huts existed. The city suburb called Powai, shares its name with the lake. Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay one of the premier institutions of science and technology in India is located to the east of the lake.
On the promenade is a garden named Powai Nisarg Udyan. It has a special fountain show but it was not working.
The lake has lot of crocodiles. An unfortunate incident happened last year in which a fisherman was killed by a crocodile.
This post is about the other side of photography: Post-processing
I used Lightroom for the editing.
Original Image Final Image
The main points I observed which can make this image better were:
1. The background is slightly over-exposed.
2. The reds in the T-shirt of boy and the umbrella can be improved ( more saturated and luminant ).
3. The blue color of the T-shirt of girl can be more luminant.
4. The background color is washed out.
This is the histogram of original image. The over-exposed background is evident here.
1. White balance: Changed the white balance to slightly blue as it was giving a good contrast to the reds.
2. I decreased the exposure and used the recovery bar to recover details in the highlights. I increased the Blacks slightly to increase the contrast.
3. I changed the highlights and shadows tone to green to reduce the numbers of colors in the photograph. It also gave more impact to the couple.
4. Gave the photograph a slight vignetting to give more emphasis to couple.
