This photograph is just a glimpse of the madness of janmashtami in mumbai. Krishna Janmashtami (Devanagari कृष्ण जन्माष्टमी kṛṣṇa janmāṣṭami), also known as Krishnashtami, Saatam Aatham, Gokulashtami, Ashtami Rohini, Srikrishna Jayanti, Sree Jayanti or sometimes merely as Janmashtami, is an annual commemoration of the birth of Krishna. popularly known in Mumbai and Pune as Dahi Handi, is celebrated with enormous zeal and enthusiasm. The handi is a clay pot filled with buttermilk that is positioned at a convenient height prior to the event. The topmost person on the human pyramid tries to break the handi by hitting it with a blunt object

58. Mahabharata

I was working on this photograph for a long time and finally I am publishing it online. I got inspired from a similar idea I saw on tumblr and decided to make a photograph on it. I chose Mahabharata as the book to show in the photograph. From Mahabharata I chose two most famous incidents: 1. ‘Dropadi cheer haran’- the disrobing of Dropadi and

2.  The scene of the great war with Krishna carrying Arjuna on the chariot
