This photograph is just a glimpse of the madness of janmashtami in mumbai. Krishna Janmashtami (Devanagari कृष्ण जन्माष्टमी kṛṣṇa janmāṣṭami), also known as Krishnashtami, Saatam Aatham, Gokulashtami, Ashtami Rohini, Srikrishna Jayanti, Sree Jayanti or sometimes merely as Janmashtami, is an annual commemoration of the birth of Krishna. popularly known in Mumbai and Pune as Dahi Handi, is celebrated with enormous zeal and enthusiasm. The handi is a clay pot filled with buttermilk that is positioned at a convenient height prior to the event. The topmost person on the human pyramid tries to break the handi by hitting it with a blunt object

I always get fascinated by this visual of ‘man working hard without caring for clothes, his body is only visible in some lumps and rest is all covered in dust. So focused on his work that he doesn’t care about anything else’. This sight was close to this idea and hence I captured it to make it immortal 🙂

Taken on the streets of Airoli, Navi Mumbai. I observed this from a long distance and was prepared to make this photograph. This is not a usual sight when you live in a metro city like Mumbai. Well, a city has all its colors 🙂

“I don’t mind living in a man’s world as long as I can be a woman in it.”

Took this at Mulund, Mumbai. The institute at Mulund where I teach is in the middle of a vegetable market. I will be taking more photographs of this place soon. Keep visiting here

Was not able to upload any photographs as my internet connection got dis-connnected . This is the photograph of Airoli station. This is a platform on the harbour line. The Harbour Line is a branch of the Mumbai Suburban Railway. It is operated by Central Railways. It covers most of Navi Mumbai and the eastern areas of Mumbai. It has all these beautiful platforms with special design to use natural light as much as possible.

It was one of those times when you were not able to capture what you actually saw. This mother-daughter couple looked quite happy but as I pointed my camera her look changed. And the photograph having that questioning look on mother and the barefoot daughter tells a completely different story.

Taken at Thane Railway station while going for the job. While traveling a lot for work nowadays I have realized why people say that mumbai is crowded.
